How Much Does Bat Removal Cost?

Bat removal is a specialized service that requires expertise, proper equipment, and humane practices. If you’re dealing with bats in your home or property, understanding the costs involved can help you make informed decisions.

Average Bat Removal Cost in Indianapolis

The typical cost ranges from $300 to $579 for removal, and up to $8,000+ for full attic remediation But this figure can vary based on the extent of the infestation and the services required.

Factors That Affect Bat Removal Prices

Bat removal prices vary depending on several key factors, including:

  • Number of Bats: A small colony will cost less to remove than a large one.

  • Location of the Colony: Bats in accessible areas are easier to remove, while colonies in hard-to-reach places, such as attics or chimneys, may require additional time and effort.

  • Entry Points: Identifying and sealing all entry points is crucial to prevent future infestations.

  • Damage Severity: The extent of structural or insulation damage caused by bats can significantly impact costs.

Additional Remediation & Attic Cleanup Costs

In addition to the removal cost, several other services may be necessary to fully address a bat infestation:

  1. Exclusion process and sealing of entry points: Bats often enter through small gaps or holes in your home’s structure. Sealing these entry points is a critical part of preventing re-infestation. This process involves inspecting your property, identifying potential access points, and sealing them with durable materials.

  2. Damage Repair: Bats can cause significant structural damage over time, especially in attics and walls. Repairs may include fixing chewed wires, replacing damaged wood, or repairing roof tiles.

  3. Spot Cleaning: $500+: Bat droppings (guano) pose serious health risks, including the potential for histoplasmosis, a respiratory disease. Cleaning and decontaminating affected areas is necessary to ensure your home is safe and hygienic.

  4. Full attic remediation: $8,000+: If bats have lived in your attic for an extended period, the damage can be extensive. Bat remediation cost can exceed $1,000 depending on the extent of contamination. Attic remediation includes removing soiled insulation and installing fresh insulation to restore safety and energy efficiency.

Why Professional Bat Removal is Worth It?

Hiring a professional for bat removal is essential for several reasons:

  • Humane Practices: Professionals use exclusion devices and other methods that safely remove bats without harming them.

  • Compliance with Laws: Bats are often protected by state and federal laws, so it’s important to handle their removal legally and ethically.

  • Comprehensive Solutions: Professionals don’t just remove bats—they address the root cause of the problem, including sealing entry points and cleaning up after the infestation.

  • Health and Safety: Handling bats and their droppings can be hazardous. Professionals have the necessary training and equipment to ensure safety.

Tips for Reducing Bat Removal Costs

  • Act Quickly:The longer bats stay in your home, the more damage they can cause, increasing cleanup and repair costs.

  • Schedule Regular Inspections:Identifying potential issues early can help prevent infestations.

  • Work with a Reputable Company:Choose a licensed and insured bat removal service with positive reviews.

  • Check Insurance Coverage:Some homeowner’s insurance policies may cover bat removal or damage repair under wildlife damage clauses.

Zack came out this week and secured a problem area in our basement. He was a great communicator and arrived on time. This was our second time calling for help and Zack has been great both times.

We had raccoons infiltrate our attic. We originally thought they were squirrels. The technician came out (on Christmas Eve!) and was sooo incredible. He showed us some of the areas that are allowing the raccoons are getting in, explained why he knew it was raccoons and not squirrels, and helped us feel much more confident. Additionally, he was sooo good with our pets and kind to the animals that were hanging out upstairs. Our dog is super reactive and the technician was so sweet with him and helped him feel more comfortable. I cannot reccomend this business enough. They are reasonably priced, work incredibly hard, and are beyond professional. A well deserved 5/5 stars.

Critter Removal is a great company. I contacted them via their website, and they promptly made an appointment to review my critter issue. Dalton arrived on time and reviewed the issue. They developed a quote that included installing an exit trap for the squirrels in my attic. The problem continued, so Dalton came out and made an adjustment to the trap location. Within a week the squirrels were gone. Dalton then installed metal flashing to eliminate future problems. I highly recommend Critter Removal for your rodent issues
